Caiphas Kipyako put his hand up for hosts Uganda as he claimed third place in the 10,000m boys’ race on Thursday morning at the Brookside East Africa Secondary School Games.

Kipyako’ bronze was well-deserved in the 25-lap race that only had four starters with the Kenyan scooping Gold and Silver.

The Senior Four student at The Rev. Jabilovi Issioke School Kitgum, clocked 30 minutes, 42 seconds and one-hundreth of a second.

Jackson Muema won the race in 29.50.3 ahead of Kevin Kibiwot’s 29.51.7.

The Kenyan pair broke away after seven laps never to be caught while they lapped Rwana’s Jean D’Amour Hakizimana.
