KAMPALA.

Team Uganda has no complaints about the Olympic Games Village despite some other countries describing it as below standard.
The Games Village where athletes and officials will stay during the event has been a hot topic of discussion with Team Australia refusing to check in on Sunday.

Australia’s chef de mission Kitty Chiller told the media the area was uninhabitable with blocked toilets, leaking pipes, exposed wiring, and darkened stairwells. Great Britain and New Zealand contingents also raised similar concerns while Argentina are considering moving their team to hotels in Rio.

However, Ambrose Tashobya, the Ugandan team head, says all is well in his camp. “We hardly have any complaints,” Tashobya, who travelled to Brazil last Tuesday said. “True, the situation in most apartments has been wanting but ours is okay. It is fully complete.”
Tashobya is in Rio with Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) administrator Elijah Njawuzi, team doctor Robert Zavuga, chaperone Annet Nakamya and swimming coach Max Kanyerezi.

Boxing coach Sam Rukundo also started training with his pugilists Ronald Serugo and Kennedy Katende. “The boxers started training yesterday (Monday),” noted Tashobya. The next continget of Team Uganda leaves Kampala on August 7.
