KAMPALA- For a team that considers itself title contenders, Pemba Warriors will want to end the first round with the best record in the National Basketball League.
They can make sure of that statistic when they play JKL Dolphins in one of two games at YMCA Court this evening.

The two-time champions have an impressive 9-1 record and are heavy favourites going into today’s game with the only blemish coming in the 72-62 defeat to City Oilers last month.
“There have been some good individual performances but we can still get better because our aim is to win the championship,” Warriors coach Ronnie Mutebi stated recently.
JKL will equally be looking to their first round games on a high although that is where the similarities between the teams seem to stop.

The newly promoted have had a tough first round and are currently under a six-game losing sequence the last of which was last week’s 59-55 loss to Ndejje to stand at 3-7. Warriors meanwhile swept Nkumba.

Dolphins afloat
In the other game, JKL’s women side that has fared better than their male compatriots having added several offseason additions including guard Flavia Oketcho and will be strong picks against A1 Challenge.
With a 6-2 record, they are currently third on the log against an A1 challenge side that stands fifth at 5-3.
