d at Imperial Royale Hotel. The verdict of a debate that has dominated social sites and other forums since the completion of the MTN-Fuba League finals will be known this evening.

In the aftermath of DMark Power beating Warriors 99-97 to clinch the best-of-seven game series 4-3, the discussion immediately shifted to who the best player was.

It’s a close call between the Power pair of Isaac Afidra and Ben Komakech and Warriors’ Ivan Enabu. Point guard Komakech, a two-time winner of the most prestigious award in local basketball, led all scorers with 121 points and 32 assists in the play-offs.

The other two are hoping for a first cut. Afidra sunk the go-ahead three-pointer with nine seconds on the clock to give Power a 97-96 lead in the decider.

Enabu had 88 points and 33 assists despite the entertainer suffering multiple injuries to his ankle and groins in the series.
Many point to the guard’s pain which limited his movement as the major reason Warriors ultimately collapsed to lose to Power for a second successive season.

UCU Lady Canons guard Maureen Amoding is favourite to win a second women’s MVP award in as many years following the 4-0 sweep of KCC Leopards.
Among the 32 honours are regular season MVPs for the four divisions. Enabu leads the race for the men’s regular season best player.

Top scorers, the best defensive teams, the most disciplined side, an ambassador for basketball, a mong others will be honoured at Imperial Royale Hotel.
