City Oilers, Betway Power renew feud

KAMPALA. Few teams have suffered the wrath of City Oilers like Betway Power as the former accumulated their five straight National Basketball League titles.
They were swept 3-0 in last season’s playoff semifinal as well as the 4-0 series whitewash in the 2014 finals and the 3-1 losses in 2013 and 2015.
The story is however different in the regular season as the two teams prepare to face off this evening at the Lugogo MTN Arena.

Betway Power did the double over their rivals last season, picked a win off the Oilers the season before and posted a 64-56 victory this season.
Victory for Arnold “Muchuda” Lando’s side should enhance their confidence in a season where many expect them to post a stiffer challenge having beefed up in every department in the off season.
They suffered a surprise 57-54 reverse to KCCA in their previous game to drop to 13-2 this season.

Oilers meanwhile appear to be hitting top gear, and are current second seeds after winning their last five games to move to 10-3 as the regular season enters the final bend.
While Josh Johnson and Brian Muramba continue struggling to fit in, Stephen Omony and Landry Ndikumana showed in the 77-51 win over UCU Canons that they still possess enough depth scoring 24 and 18 points respectively.

The latter lost again on Wednesday, falling to 5-9 this season after a 63-60 defeat to KIU Titans.
KIU were however made to work hard for the result using a 27-18 fourth quarter run to overcome a 36-42 deficit.
Chris Omany led the Titans with 13 points while Fadhili Chuma’s game high 18 points came in a losing effort.
