Falcons roll into Fuba series lead

It took Falcons quite sometime to find their range and rhythm at YMCA court on Sunday night. When they did, they perfected on both ends of the floor.

The six-time champions kept Warriors to only 22 second half points while scoring 44 to win 81-65 and take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Fuba League playoff finals.

Football is not the only game akin to being a game of two halves. This series is copying that adage for basketball with both sides benefiting from turnarounds and collapses.

Just like Game One which Falcons won 75-62, Steven Mwesigye was the instigator. The energetic reserve’s 13 points and eight rebounds turned the game on its head.

He dug his team from a hole following a fast start by Warriors who led 29-20 at the end of the first period. Mwesigye, who admits that starting on the bench is perhaps good, was taking notes. “When on the bench, you see so many mistakes. So when you come on, you know what to do,” Mwesigye said previously. “It’s good to watch and see not sulk.”

His influence was matched by that of fellow reserve Edwin Kateregga whose 12 points and nine rebounds signified his best game in the playoffs. Peter Elungat completed the trilogy of double figures with a team-high 14 points.
