Kampala.
First cuts are said to be the deepest are said to be the deepest. IUIU Ladies are finding their first appearance in a competitive basketball tournament a tough learning curve.

One week after the Zuku University Basketball League debutants scored only three points in a 90-3 loss to Makarere, they improved to seven points.
However, the margin of defeat grew as title favourites and hosts of this week’s leg UCU Lady Canons thumped IUIU 126-7 with Purity Odhiambo scoring 49 points and 11 rebounds.

All of whipping ‘girls’ points were scored in the first and third quarters against a team that had only seven players as it was never going to be a contest.
In the men’s category, Jonah Otim enhanced his reputation, dominating as his Ndejje University Angels won all three games they played including a 28-point display. The shooting guard, also part of the national side, TeamUG, had his highest tally in the 76-69 win over Cavendish University and followed it up with 19 points to beat St. Lawrence 72-48.

Elsewhere, whoever of Team Sudi and Team Blick gets through to the final of the Friday Night Lights tournament will have a few hours to recover before facing Team Ikong for the ultimate prize.
Their game on Friday night was washed out just after Ikong comfortably beat Team Amoding 66-53.
