It’s KIU vs Power

With an 8-2 record, KIU Titans, it can be said, have had a decent season thus far.

But for a team that see themselves as title contenders, those two defeats seem to have carried more weight.

The Kansanga-based side lost to champions City Oilers 73-64 in addition to the 75-74 defeat to Pemba Warriors last week; two teams that they are expected to compete with for top honours.
As they play Betway Power this evening at Lugogo MTN Arena, KIU will be keen to get a win over another title rival in the shape of the five-time champions.

“It’s probably a mental fatigue issue,” Nyambogo said of the two defeats that have been in contrast to the team that has shown good ability in ball rotation against the smaller teams.
Guard Chris Omanye is not hogging the ball as much and leads the assists table averaging 5.3 after 10 games.

They will however be up against a Power team that has overall appeared more focused than previous years as their 7-2 record suggests.
They will for the first time this season also be able to use the services of Willy Nijimbere from Burundi’s Urunani.
The veteran Burundian guard has been training with the club this week and is expected to significantly improve the backcourt of the Arnold Lando-coached side.

“Because of his ability, he is a player who can play various roles from one-three. He has a very good shot and he is good off the ball too,” Lando said of the 37 year old.
On Wednesday, Michael Othieno scored a game high 20 points as Ndejje University overcame JKL 59-55 at Lugogo.

Defeat was the six straight for JKL who share a 3-7 record with Sharing after the latter edged UPDF 63-57 despite Henry Okoth’s 31 points for the army side.
