Kikankane wins Busiika sprint, Ssebuguzi comes distant 13th

KAMPALA.

Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru ended Ronald Ssebuguzi perfect record in the sprint this season.

In front of one of the biggest crowd ever to watch a motorsport event, the Subaru N14 driver destroyed Ssebuguzi winning the Race of Champions sprint at Uganda Motorsports Arena- Busiika on Sunday. He clocked 09:37.65 over two runs, 01:20.13 ahead of the NRC leader who ended the day in 13th place.

Ssebuguzi was going for his fourth win in a sprint in as many events. Before the event, ‘Kikankane’ wished to be paired with Ssebuguzi and it was granted as the two went head-to- head.

“It was good preparation for me ahead of the Tanzania Rally in which I am going to participate,” he said.
The Tanzania event which takes place next weekend is the fourth leg of Africa Rally Championship (ARC).
Ssebuguzi praised ‘Kikankane’.

“A win was always going to be crucial especially in a double lane track, but dust hindered my vision. And that is part of sport,” he said.
The event attracted over 31 drivers.
