No slip ups as City Oilers, Power and KIU win game one

KAMPALA. There were no surprises on the opening weekend of the Pepsi National Basketball League Playoffs.
City Oilers, Power and KIU Titans, all favoured to progress from their matchups, followed the form book with relatively comfortable wins in their opening best of three playoff quarterfinal series.

Three-time defending champions City Oilers tipped off the Sunday action at the MTN Arena with a blowout 90-63 victory over UPDF Tomahawks on their playoffs debut.
Kami Kabange and Jonah Otim led the Oilers with 23 and 20 points respectively in a tie that was over as a contest following a 33-11 second quarter run.
Stephen Wokorach and Wilberforce Pirworth replied with 22 and 18 points respectively for eighth seeds UPDF who still have to endure a game two on Sunday.

Bbaale Sulaiman and Vinnie Jurua added 15 and 13 points apiece before the Titans prevailed 90-74. Geoffrey Soro led with 23, Jean Hakizimana added 10 while Sudi Ulanga shot 5 of 7 from behind the arc for 18 points to underline KIU’S deep roster.

84-57. Our Saviour find themselves in similar situation following an 84-57 loss at the hands of Power for whom Joseph Ikong and Isaac Afidra rolled back the years with 28 and 22 points respectively.
