Top division newcomers tied in final

In Summary

In the Division Three final series, Ssaku beat UMU Flames 85-77 to take a 2-0 lead.

Kampala

Charging Rhino and City Oilers, the two teams promoted to next year’s Fuba League men’s Division One, are tied in their best-of-five final series at 1-1. Former national champions Rhino battered City Oil 70-47 in front of sparse crowd at YMCA court on Tuesday to level the series after losing the opener on Sunday.

Allan Kobel scored 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Rhino to victory. The averagely younger side also had Abel Amongin and Rashid Male score 13 and 10 respectively.

Veterans Ronnie Kalule and Andrew Tendo, both former Falcons, scored 14 and 10 but City Oil were never in the game. The series resumes on Sunday with Game Three.

However, this is a much better series than what City Oil had last year when they lost 2-0 to Bush Court in the best-of-three Division Three final. City Oil have won successive promotions.
