Ugandan boxer Sharif ‘The Lion’ Bogere has vowed to make a quick return to the ring after suffering an injury setback. Bogere was scheduled to take on Cuban Richard Abril in a World Boxing Association light middleweight title fight on November 24 but tore an achilles tendon in his left leg during training on Monday.

The fight was called off following the Ugandan’s misfortune. “I will bounce back stronger,” Bogere said on phone from his Las Vegas base.

The 23-year-old unbeaten fighter will now pray the fight is rescheduled to next year to allow him recover fully. “I have been training very hard and will not lose much during this recovery period,” he added.

Bogere stopped all his previous five opponents before the end of the third round.
