Kickboxing. Abraham’s camp accused Golola promotions (organisers of the fight) for “disorganisation and not abiding by the signed contract,” hence the postponement of the fight.

KAMPALA- Fresh negotiations are at an advanced stage for Ugandan kickboxer Moses Golola to lock horns with American Abraham Richard.

Golola was due to face the two-time World Kickboxing Champion last week but the fight never took off after Golola’s camp allegedly frustrated the American’s travel by not sending him credible air tickets.

But following the involvement of kickboxing sanctioning bodies, World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) and Uganda Kickboxing Federation (UKF), the fight seems to be back on.

Fritz Exenberger, the WKF director and Chief Executive Officer, told Daily Monitor that all is on track for the fight to proceed.

“The fight will going on and l promise people are going to see an amazing fight between Golola and Abraham next week (this week),” he said in an interview in Kampala at the weekend.

“We have emails of Abraham’s camp confirming that they will be here by Tuesday (today).”
Justin Whiley, the vice president of Wako-USA Kickboxing, also confirmed to this newspaper that the negotiations are in advanced stage to carry on with the fight.

“Something may happen next week. Once the sanctioning body (WKF) was involved, they did their best to rectify the situation,” read part of the communiqué.

“Hassan Sikirime from UKF Uganda worked very hard to make the fight happen. The UKF is a very good organisation, unfortunately they had a lot of work to do to fix what the organizers had done.”

Meanwhile, Golola, who has been undergoing intensive training in Phuket, Thailand, said that the postponement of the fight hit him hard.

“I had prepared well for this fight before but it’s now time for me to focus,” said Golola.

“What happened, happened. Time to pick up myself and train more in these remaining days. My fans should turn up & see a fight never before.”
