KAMPALA.

Having been offered another title fight opportunity, kickboxer Alex Masiko is counting on early preparations to achieve success in his continental duel against Austria’s Aleksander Dokter.

Unlike the lead up to his fight against Khalil Dermech in November, Masiko on Tuesday entered residential training at Satellite Hotel in Kisaasi a month to his May 13 fight at the Lugogo MTN Arena.

“Before every fight you need a proper set up and this is what I have been yearning for,” explained Masiko just after completing his morning session under coaches Abu Kimpi and Adam Eric Boumadi.

Masiko who defeated Dermech in his previous fight at Lugogo also believes he will start as favourite for the Light middleweight Intercontinental bout.

“I saw him in Hungary and I want to challenge guys who are good. But I have an advantage because the fight is in the low kick style yet he seemed most comfortable with his knees and K1 style,” Masiko further explained.

He will also go into the bout well rested ahead of the fight against an opponent who is also scheduled to take part in the European championship next week.

The contest organized by Ampropen events company is one of three title fights expected alongsidethose of Patricia Apolot and Shakey Mubiru.
