UABF elective assembly on
In Summary
Last year, the elections were quashed on the final day after a directive from world body Aiba.
The wrangles in the amateur boxing could be solved by the end of today as delegates converge to decide the next president of the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF).
Godfrey Nyakana, the leader of the interim committee and Lukanga boxing club president Sam Lukanga are the men vying for the top job. Only 63 delegates from as many clubs are eligible to vote the federation’s leader for the next five years.
The constitution review commission chairman Denis Galabuzi , who is also in charge of organising the elections, told Saturday Monitor that the verification process has been handled with care to avoid mishaps. “We are under strict instructions from AIBA to do a clinical job,” he said.
VOTING CRITERIA
Two representatives from each of the over 60 clubs will be allowed to attend the delegates conference. Each club will however choose on representative to vote on its behalf. The winner will be based on the majority vote.
