Charity, Nile CC still seeking maiden wins

The return of the national senior men’s team from the just concluded ICC Division III World Cricket League showpiece in Bermuda will boost many clubs heading into today’s Multiple Industries Division I 50-over National Cricket League encounters.

After suffering two painful defeats to Rounders and Wanderers, Nile skipper Martin Ondeko will welcome back Brian Masaba and Michael Ndiko with open arms when they face Charity Trust Fund at Lugogo Oval this morning.

“Their (the duo) return will be vital as we look to put an end to the poor run of results,” Ondeko told Sunday Monitor. “Masaba’s comeback will mainly help improve our bowling department which has been a major let down.”

But Charity too, missed their captain Jonathan Ssebanja as well as all-rounder Henry Ssenyondo as they suffered one-wicket and 72-run defeats to Tornado B and Patidar Samaj. Ssenyondo’s brother Ronald Ssemanda, who can was in charge during the two losses, is ruled out with malaria.
Ssebanja’s return will not only widen but also improve on Charity’s batting scope as they seek their first win.

While Nile and Charity have opted to use their national stars, Wanderers’ skipper Denis Musali will rest national team captain Davis Karashani and Arthur Ziraba (injured) when they play Rounders at the lakeside oval in Entebbe.

“Karashani and Ziraba need a break after such a hectic mission in Bermuda,” Musali said.
He will bank on his top order of Hamu Kayondo, Hamza Saleh and Arnold Otwani “Our team can get the required result. The players at disposal will take care of Sunday’s (today) game.”
At the university oval in Kyambogo, Tornado B will rely on their 38-run win over holders Tornado when they face 2011 winners Patidar.

Both sides are yet to concede defeat after two games. Kenyan international David Obuya has been the pillar Tornado B but his absence will not be felt since the trio of Charles Waiswa, Roger Mukasa and Lawrence Ssematimba return from national duty just in time to face their f ormer employers.
