Kampala- Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic’s first response to being drawn against 189th Madagascar in the second round preliminary tie in the road to Morocco Afcon 2015 was coated with caution.
Uganda, ranked 86th by Fifa, will face Madagascar in a two –legged affair, with the winner progressing to the third round to face victors between 152nd-ranked Mauritania and Equatorial Guinea.
“It will be a competitive match but we are not going to play the Madagascar that features in the Cosafa Cup,” said Micho on Fufa’s Twitter handle, “Their team will be strengthened by players who play in the French League.”
Micho will anticipate an even harder task should the Cranes make it past the second and third rounds; for they will join four-time African champions Ghana, Togo and Guinea in Group E following yesterday’s draw in Cairo, Egypt.
Uganda beat Ghana 1-0 in the 2004 Afcon qualifiers in Kampala and drew 1-1 away. The preliminary round first leg games will be played between May 16-18.
