Multi-faceted James Odong will be back in the country for the first time in two years, but on a sad note.

The former Davis Cup international, who also plays golf and cricket, is expected to arrive in the country on Saturday morning from his USA base to pay the last respects to his fallen father Livingstone Okoth. The late, who worked with the Jinja Medical Office, succumbed to tuberculosis on Wednesday. He was 58.

“Odong has decided to put his studies on hold at the South West Indiana University where he is pursuing a Sports Physical Therapy and Management degree so that he buries his father,” disclosed Odong’s close friend Shaban Ram.

“The late will be laid to rest on Sunday (tomorrow) in Tororo, eight miles off Mbale road at his ancestral home in a village called Aukot.”

The late leaves behind three daughters and three sons including Odong, who is also an internationally accredited tennis coach and tournament official.
