The defending champions began the second round of the Jazz Safari National League like they wrapped up the first with a rubber-stamping 171-run win over bottom side Premier at lakeside oval in Entebbe on Sunday. It is now eight matches and eight wins for unstoppable Damani.
Nearly every squad player has had a contribution in this Cinderella story. On Sunday, the day belonged to Emmanuel Isaneez.
His right-arm medium fast deliveries produced a stand-out seven-over spell of 8/10, more than enough to bowl out Premier for a paltry 45 runs, ending their pursuit of 217 in 14.4 overs. “Everything worked out for me,” said long-serving Isaneez.
The 2004 and 2006 U-19 Youth World Cup finalist reminded everyone of his stellar old days in style to the extent that only Nicholas Obuoch (18 off 17 balls) attempted to withstand his flying flames.
“I woke up on the right side of the bed and things should keep going for me. We are still unbeaten but we are focused on closing in on the title,” he added.
