Kyobe wins man of match award in Oman

Cricket. Uganda’s left hand opening batsman Arthur Kyobe scored 104 off 126 balls but his team still lost.

After enduring a two-month dry runs spell, Ugandan cricketer Arthur Kyobe, who is on a semi-professional stint in Oman, finally got the monkey off his back with a maiden century for his club Passage to India to win the man-of-match award on Friday.

According to his Ugandan teammate Asadu Sseyiga, who was rested for the game, Kyobe stroked 104 runs off 126 balls as his team set 280 for 9 in 50 overs but unfortunately lost the thriller by two wickets and only four balls to spare to Al Turuki Cricket Club.
“Kyobe was so composed and his hundred was chanceless,” said Sseyiga.

“Unfortunately he was benched in the last match but his knock will silence many critics here. It will also prove to them that none of us is a bench player.” Kyobe is expected to join the Bermuda-bound national team in January.
