Mountain running team scoop Uspa award

The four-man team defeated Uganda Golf Open winner Peter Ssendawula by 80 strokes.
Uganda’s mountain running team was yesterday crowned the Uganda Sports Press Association (Uspa) sports personality of the month of September.
Team Uganda made history by dominating the senior men’s race at the 29th edition of the Mountain Running World Championships in Poland with the first four men. The quartet of Phillip Kiplimo, Geoffrey Kusuro, Nathan Ayeko and Peter Kibet took the top positions in that order during the 13km event.
Kiplimo took gold after clocking 54:22 while Kusuro (55:06) and Ayeko (55:19) settled for silver and bronze respectively. Kibet clocked 55:27 as Uganda emerged overall world champions followed by Italy and Tunisia in the city of in Krynica-Zdroj.
Uspa commended ex-professional golfer Peter Ssendawula for notching his second Uganda Open title at the par-71 Entebbe Golf Club and Ngabi clan for winning the Bika Football tournament.
