The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) head offices in Lugogo have been sealed off following Monday night’s fire outbreak.

Initial findings by police indicate that the fire was caused by an electric short circuit but one of the glass windows was found broken at the time when the fire brigade team came to extinguish the fire.

The building was not wholly affected but the sensitive departments of finance, administration and the various commissions were allegedly burnt to ashes.

William Blick, the acting UOC president, confirmed the fire outbreak and requested the Police to carry out quick investigations.

“I can confirm that there was a fire outbreak at our offices,” said Blick.
“I have requested the necessary authorities and tasked the Police to treat the situation as a matter of urgency. The Police investigations are already underway.”

“UOC and Police will issue a joint statement on what happened and we shall inform the general public on how we shall proceed.”

State Minister for Sports Charles Bakkabulindi also visited to the scene yesterday morning and reiterated Blick’s plea for quick investigations.
