Vipers seek perfect end to first round, KCC host Entebbe

Unbeaten Vipers are up against an eighth-placed Bright Stars outfit that lost their previous match 1-0 to SC Villa on Friday.

KAMPALA

Vipers will hope for a more serene ending to their game against Bright Stars as they seek to end the first round unbeaten in one of eight games on card in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) this evening.

The result of their last game against BUL (which was yet to be confirmed by press time yesterday, ended with riot police firing tear gas. This followed BUL’s fans attempts to rough up referee Francis Jjingo after they conceded in added time to lose 2-1.

Vipers are up against eighth-placed Bright Stars team lost their previous match 1-0 to SC villa and are again likely to be without the influential duo of goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya and striker Hassan Kikoyo.

Vipers, on top of the table with 31 points have meanwhile won nine and drawn four of their games so far as they seek to add to the title they won in 2010.

At Lugogo, KCC will be strong favourites to return to winning ways after their shock 1-0 loss to Lweza on Friday with victory over second from bottom Entebbe.

Coach Abdullah Mubiru has had an indifferent start to his reign with the champions having won only twice in five games since he took over from George ‘Best’ Nsimbe.

Entebbe, meanwhile, come into the game having recorded only their second victory of the season on Friday following a 2-1 win over Rwenshama.
