Kampala- Wanderers reignited their campaign for a double this year after recording two wins in the Twenty20 Women’s Mehta Premier League at the weekend.
Wanderers, who won the 50-over league in July, had looked out of the running for honours in the shorter format after losing twice to Charity Trust Fund a fortnight ago.
But 10 and eight-wicket victories over JACC at Kyambogo on Saturday have now steadied Wanderers’ ship.
“We got off to a poor start but we are beginning to click,” Wanderers’ skipper Kevin Apio told Daily Monitor after her side moved to third in the standings with 14 points. JACC slid to fourth with 11 while Tornado lead the table on 18. Charity are second. “We won’t entertain anymore losses,” Apio added.
In the morning, former team captain Mary Nanderenga struck 15* while returnee Christine Aryemo added 20* as Wanderers reached a meager target of 51 within eight overs.
In the afternoon game, JACC’s Racheal Ntono scored 18 as they elevated their score to 61 for 6 but Wanderers lost only two wickets to reach 62 with 14 balls to spare.
Despite the defeats JACC coach Habibu Mugalula remained positive.
