Basabose, Namakula reign at MTN November Mug

Fresh from Dubai where she endured a torrid debut, Namakula was back to her best claiming overall honours in the ladies event.

Scratch golfer John Paul Basabose and handicap two Flavia Namakula dominated the MTN November Mug played at the par-72 Kitante course on Friday.

Basabose, a former national amateur team star, won the gross category with a return of level-par 72 whereas Namakula played two-over-par 75 for a tally of 73 nett to take the women’s Group A accolade. Namakula is fresh from the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters where she was forced to exit after firing 15-over-par 87 on Day One of the season-ending European Ladies Tour event.

“I am happy to win again,” said Namakula. Nation Media Group’s Anne Abeja grabbed a podium in the women’s Group B category. The 18-handicapper fired 76 nett.
Rwanda’s Emmanuel Ruterana won the professionals’ category.
