  • Golf. Playing off handicap 19, Dr Musisi capped a perfect start to his 22nd year in golf by returning 136 nett after two days which translated into an impressive eight-under par overall.

KAMPALA.

The low attendance during the inaugural Kitante Open prize giving ceremony was the only missing piece as pomp slowly returned to the 19th hole of the par-72 Uganda Golf Club (UGC) on Saturday night.
But a decent field, vindicated by a full leaderboard beneath tree canopy near the par-4 18th green, had taken part in the two-day event.
And true, overall winner Dr David Musisi must have broken enough sweat to usurp over 140 players enroute winning this edition of the clubhouse event sponsored by Airtel, Liberty Insurance, Pepsi, Bollore Logistics and Kia Motors.

Competitive handicap
Playing handicap 19, Dr Musisi capped a perfect start to his 22nd year in golf by returning 136 nett after two days, simply told as 8-under. “I just found myself very calm, right from yesterday (Friday),” Dr Musisi said moments after picking his diadem from chief guest Uganda National Roads Authority Executive Director Allen Kagina.
“I kept focused and playe consistently (which is) what golf is about,” said the man who first played the game of swing in 1996 while working at Simi Valley Hospital in the Wood Ranch community in California, USA.
On Day One on Friday, Musisi managed two birdies on Holes par-3 No.4 and par-4 No.7 as well as four pars to return 71 nett.

Progressive start
But it even got better on Day Two as he produced just a birdie on par-5 Hole No.3 and seven pars for 65 nett.
“I hope this is the start so I can continue playing this way,” added the calm man who now majors in nutrition under his company Nature’s Health.
