Katarikawe, Kitata take top honours

Kasozi didn’t show up for the game against Kitata whereas a tight schedule denied Chinese Ambassador Park Jong-Dae a match against Katarikawe.

Willy Deus Kitata and captain Charles Katarikawe were crowned Kitante Club Championship and Kitante Cup winners respectively during the awards ceremony of the Hima Cement Captain’s Prize tournament held at Uganda Golf Club yesterday.

Kitata replaces Davis Kashaka as the club champion for 2013 whereas Katarikawe takes over from Robert Waweru as the new Kitante Cup holder.

It was a tough road for Kitata and Katarikawe to achieve their respective feats in the annual club championship that lasted over four-months. Playing off handicap 11, Katarikawe survived a tedious knockout system that saw him earn a berth in the finals after eliminating Alexander Kasendwa 2-0 in the semifinals.

His opponent in the final Jong-Dae overwhelmed Jackson Karyarugookwe five-up, with four holes to go. Both players received glittering trophies.
