Kampala.

Beginner’s luck had eluded Lim Misung but she broke her duck after four years when she claimed the overall title at the Royal Netherlands Business Golf Cup at Kitante course on June 27.

On a day when scores were relatively good, the South Korean national, tallied 41 stableford points to edge Sheraton’s David Ssekitoleko (40 points c/b), men’s Group B winner Paul Nuwagaba (40) and Group C’s best Duan Tanxu (40) by just a point.

And the timing couldn’t have been better for the cheerful Misung, who also broke news to the golfing fraternity that she was celebrating her 22nd wedding anniversary to Park Jong Dae, the South Korean Ambassador to Uganda. “The win has come at a good time because I only celebrated my anniversary yesterday,” said Misung, amidst applause from the members at the 19th hole, soon after receiving her trophy and two return air tickets to Netherlands from the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Uganda, Alphons Hennekens, and KLM sales manager, Lukia Otema.

“I am so happy because this is my first win here at Uganda Golf Club since I started playing four years ago.”

Runner-up Ssekitoleko earned a deserved consolation prize – a dfcu bank-sponsored weekend for two at Chobe Safari Lodge. Evelyn Asiimwe (38 points) and Lui Ming Shu (39) were the best ladies in Group A and B respectively of the event that will now be played on an annual basis and whose aim is to foster trade relationships between the Netherlands and Uganda.
