Open winner Kasozi in last eight of Kitante Championship

Golf. The quarter finalists of the Kitante Club Championship and Kitante Cup have been given this weekend to settle their scores.
National amateur stars lived up to the billing as the Kitante Club Championship reached its business bend this week. Uganda Open winner and national captain Phillip Kasozi, Willy Kitata, Gerald Kabuye, Joseph Mawejje and Abbey Bagalana cruised into the quarterfinals, albeit in contrasting fashion.
Kasozi overwhelmed Richard Mwami 8-up with seven holes to play (8/7), Kabuye was a 6-up, 7 to go winner over Jimmy Alemiga and Mawejje defeated Michael Obalim 4/3 whereas Kitata and Bagalana walked over Davis Kashaka and Frank Ochieng respectively.
Former Open winner Rogers Byaruhanga also earned a 4-up, 3 to go victory over Nikhil Damani.
In the Kitante Cup, which is contested by handicap 10 to 28 golfers, club captain Charles Katarikawe stayed on course for the title with a 4/3 win over Isaac Adriko. Jackson Karyarugooke edged Eridaadi Mwangusya 2-up and Arthur Gakwandi earned a similar margin win over George Egadu.
