KAMPALA- Bigger is supposed to literally be better and beautiful. And the 72nd edition of the premier event on the Uganda Golf Union (UGU) calendar; The Tusker Malt Uganda Open, has all the ingredients to leave a mark on the continent as the best ever since its inception.

UBL’s Marketing Director Grace Nshemeire disclosed that the package has been increased two-fold from Shs100m in 2013 to Shs200m this year.

“We are glad that our partnership with this premier event has reached four years now,” said Nshemeirwe.
“We injected a cumulative Shs700m in the last three editions. But we are giving even more for this edition because of our good relationship with the game managers in Uganda, our desire to see skills improvement among our local players and the fantastic golf experience.”

The money-spinning category has also been increased from Shs50m to Shs100m but the professionals’ feathers will be ruffled just a bit after organizers put a $100 (Shs260,000) registration fee.

Premier brands led by title sponsors Uganda Breweries through the flagship of their brand of Tusker Malt (Shs200m cash, media activations, advertising, prizes & refreshments), Sheraton Hotel (Shs200m worth complimentary & discounted accommodation, lunches & refreshments, halfway house, shuttle to and from hotel), Uganda Tourism Board (Shs10m & fully sponsored tour across Uganda for the winner), Case Medical Center, KK Security, Dash and a galaxy of media companies have partnered to ensure the margin of error is reduced to naught when action tees off from September 1-6.
