When he strolled down from the parking yard to the par-71 Entebbe Golf Course, Zuber Juma knew he had come to have a good round and enjoy with his friends at the Bro Group Corporate Open on Saturday. But by the end of action, Zuber could hardly believe he had finished overall winner at the tournament’s seventh edition played under the stableford format.

Playing off handicap 28, Zuber returned 44 points to beat a field of 195 golfers who had taken part in the event. “I really enjoyed the day out on the course with the members but winning was surely a bonus,” with delight, Zuber told the gathering at the 19th hole as Argentina squeezed past Belgium to their first Fifa World Cup semifinal since 1990.
Zuber was awarded a brand new Gaufa golf kit before song birds Irene Ntale and Cindy entertained the guests. Earlier, Resty Nalutaaya reigned supreme in the women’s category, finishing with 34 points after playing off handicap 26.

“I am excited for my great performance,” she said. “This is my second major win after winning the group B lady’s open last year,” Nalutaaya said. In the absence of Deo Akope and Opio Onito, Herman Mutawe claimed a cash prize of Shs1.5m after winning the professionals’ category after carding 144 gross. Fred Wanzala and Saidi Mawa settled for second and third on 154 gross.
