KAMPALA. Thousands of motocross fans came braved the afternoon downpour and went back home satisfied after a cocktail of acrobatics by South Africa Freestyle champion Nick de Wit.
The 31-year-old was the star attraction during the 4th round of the Mountain Dew National Motocross Championship held at the Uganda Motocross Arena Busiika on Sunday.
“The enthusiasm showed by the crowd surprised me and am deeply honoured,” the African champion said after the display. The back flip was the highlight of the afternoon.
His maneuvers overshadowed some outstanding performance and duels on the wet and slippery track as riders battled for points and places on the national team for the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Champions to be hosted by Kenya at the end of August.

Battles in the MX50 Junior category between William Blick and Miguel Katende, MX50 Senior involving Isabella Blick and Gift Ssebuguzi, and Malcolm Lubega and Imran Nkurunziza in MX65 kept fans on their toes. Fortune Ssentamu dominated all three heats in MX85 and in the final event of the evening he upgraded to MX1 to take on champion Maxime van Pee and Asaf Natan.
Shell Advance, Lato Milk, ICEA, IAA Health/ Resolution Health, Safe Solutions and Fotogenix were sponsors.
