Round two of Mountain Dew MX championship at Garuga Race Track on Sunday provided the twist and turns that make it hard to predict the overall winner at the end of the season.

Granted, the season is still in it’s early stages, but like in round one in Busiika last month, the MX2cc class kept the fans on tenterhooks.

Last time, 12-year-old, Ali Omar Yasser ‘Bobo’ made 25-year-old Ahmed Tamale look pedestrian.
On Sunday, it was 11-year-old Alistair Blick on a Yamaha 2015 model who dominated the class, beating both ‘Bobo’ and Tamale to the delight of his dad and 10-time national champion Arthur Blick Jr.

“This is the Alistair we know, fighting and aggressive. I am happy for him and I hope he maintains the standard throughout the season,” the veteran rider, who finished third in MX1 said.

Other outstanding performances on the day included Isabella Blick (MX50cc), Waleed Omar (MX65cc) and Fortune Ssentamu (MX85cc). The trio scored maximum 60 points in their respective classes over three heats.

However, the showdown between Ssentamu and the Orland brothers Aviv and Stav did not happen as the brothers failed to show up.

In MX1, guest rider and trainer Jurgen Kuppers ran the show. He not only beat Asaf Natan, Maxime Van Pee and Blick Jr, but overlapped the trio in different heats. Natan emerged winner, with reigning national champion Maxime coming second and Blick Jr third.

The next event is the East Africa MX Championship set for Garuga on May 3.
