KAMPALA. Arthur Blick Jr is among the 40 drivers registered for the two-day Umospoc Kabalega Rally 2017 this weekend in Hoima.

Blick Jr, the 2015 National Rally champion and his wife Noella rolled their Subaru Impreza N10 in Kayunga during the Shell Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally in June. The accident left Blick Jr with a broken collar bone and was advised by doctors to rest for six weeks.

According to Charles Ssemengo, the clerk of the course Blick Jr beat the Saturday deadline. “Blick Jr registered but a doctor needs to give him ‘an all clear’ before he can compete,” Ssemengo said.
Blick Jr said: “We did not want to miss the registration deadline, but the doctor will have the final say if I am fit to drive.”

The penultimate event of the season is expected to be hotly contested between the top four drivers Christakis Fitidis, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Kuku Ranjit, and Duncan Mubiru who all have ambitions to win this year’s National Rally Championship (NRC) title. The quartet are separated by 85 points. The event has a total of 362 kilometers, 172.78 of which are is competitive.
