Kampala- The 2015 National Rally Champion (NRC) Arthur Blick Jr has won the second round of the National Autocross Championship that took place at Sisa along Entebbe Road over the weekend.

Blick Jr partnered with his wife Noella in Mitsubishi Evo X and finished the 12.2km race in a time of 10.40.
It was a good outing for Mitsubishi cars, which claimed the first three places with Jonas Kansime (Evo VIII) and Samuel Bwete (Evo IX) coming second and third respectively.

After the race, a jovial Blick Jr said he used the event to test his car ahead of the Pearl of Africa rally next month.

After missing the UMC Challenge Rally in Fort Portal early this month, due to late arrival of spare parts for his car, the veteran driver had to use the event to test his car after the repairs.

“We participated in the event to test the gravel shocks, engine sensors and the fuel pump, Blick Jr who also won the Enduro title in 2015 told Daily Monitor.

He added: “I will be doing more testing in the upcoming sprint at the newly redesigned Garuga double track on July 01.
However, Blick Jr ruled himself out of the 2018 NRC saying that after four rounds and yet to score points, the focus is now next season.

After the latest round, Kansime leads the standing with 37 points followed by teenager Ali’ Bobo’ Omar with 29 points with Sabiti Muyanja third with 25 points. Sixteen cars took part in the event.

In the 4x4 race, defending champions Julius Mugambwa got back to winning ways. Yusuf Kanwagi and Moses Wakhasa come second and third respectively.
