Motosport. Driver says he prefers rallying to motocross because it is safer.
Arthur Blick Junior is hoping for an impressive performance in this weekend’s Freedom City Rally after upgrading his car.
Blick finished a distant eighth in Pine Ridge Mbarara Rally last month but blamed car troubles for his placing.
“I lost over an hour because of a fuel pump problem,” Blick said. “I could have done better. But my team has ordered for a new pump from UK. They are also upgrading the engine so we shall be more powerful this time round.”
Blick decided to concentrate on rallying this season after winning a record 10 motocross titles. That record makes him the most successful rider on the local scene, having started his career in 1996.
But he feels rallying, a sport he tried out but left in 2005, is a better event. “It is more enjoyable and safer than the MX especially with my past leg injuries resulting from several falls,” Blick said ahead of the Freedom City Challenge Rally starting at Garuga on Saturday.
The Rwenzori team driver expects a fast event due to the current dry season. He is, however, wary of Competitive Section (CS) four: Jjanda-Busiika (17.1km) because of its rough surface.
Drivers will compete over 148.6km in eight sections.
