FMU boss stakes prize for Desh, Byona sections

KAMPALA.

FMU president Dusman Okee has staked a prize for any driver who comes out top in the Competitive sections (CS) one and two named after Desh Kananura (12.00km) and Ambrose Byona (12.63km) in next week’s Gorillas in the Mist Rally 2017 in Kabale.

“Am staking a special prize for any drivers other than Desh and Byona who win the opening two sections,” the FMU president said at the launch of the event at Panamera Bar & Restaurant Naguru last Friday. “This is a challenge drivers should take on.”

Okee did not disclose the prizes but it is expected that drivers will use every sinew of their muscles and finesse to pursue the early initiative. Meanwhile the clerk of the course Katende Mukiibi has requested drivers to register before the deadline of Saturday, February 25.

“We are not going to accept late entries,” Mukiibi warned. The event has been bankrolled by Byona Exectutive Travel to the tune of Sh35.5m. Kabonge Coffee Company, Hima Cement, White Horse Inn, Masolin Signs, Gaz, Lato Milk, Big win Casino, Ferro Mobile and ICEA are among the other sponsors.
