In Summary
Ronald Ssebuguzi and Ponsiano Lwakataka, both former NRC winners, are the favourites.
Heavy rain the past 48 hours might force the organisers to change one section of the MPU Coca Cola Challenge Rally today.
Justin Mungoma assistant clerk of the course told the Sunday Monitor that the stewards will meet today morning to decide on competitive section (CS) Kasaana-Bwala (42.01km) which has been made impassable by River Musambwa.
“Around 24km into the section (Kasaana- Bwala) River Musambwa has flooded the route and at the moment it is virtually impossible to use the route. We are going to keep on monitoring the section and the stewards will decide this morning,” Mungoma said on Friday evening after checking on the route.
He added: “If the section remains impassable we shall cancel it (today) and repeat one of the other two CS.”
The other the sections are Kaddugala- Kyabakuza and Bukeeri- Bisanje with a combined total of 78.30-km.
Off the ramp first will be Ponsiano Lwakataka (Subaru N8) followed by Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru (Subaru) and Christakis Fitidis (Subaru N12.
The event which is the third round of NRC has a total of 307.08km of which 204.72km is competitive.
