Kampala- Maxime van Pee has confirmed that Team Uganda will miss the services of Paddy Blick who broke his left wrist in training on Wednesday.

Uganda face off with Kenya in the first leg of Mountain Dew FIM Africa Central Africa Motocross Championship at Garuga Race Track today.

The event will also count as the third round of the championship, so points will also be at stake. However the spirit remains high in the team.

“It is very unfortunate Paddy (Blick) broke his wrist during practice on Wednesday. He is a key member of the MX85cc class,” Maxime who will lead the team for the very first time told the Sunday Monitor on Friday.

“During the team meeting on Thursday, everyone vowed to win the first leg for Paddy. The spirit is very high in the team and we want to win with a big margin as we still have to travel to Kenya for the return leg.”

Arthur Blick Jr said Paddy will be out of action for about six weeks. On the Kenyan challenge, Blick Jr said that they are going to put Kenya on pressure from the first heat in MX50cc.

“Numbers are going to play a big role as everybody scores points according to the new regulations. It is very important to have a big team at home because in Nairobi, Kenya will out number us,” the veteran 10-time national champion said.
The rules for the regional event were changed in order to encourage everyone to participate.
