Kikankane said when he started driving his dream was to win the Pearl Rally. Last season were we going on well until Subaru N14 lost power and we retired. But this time he will drive the more powerful GVB which he bought from the reigning Africa champions Manvir Baryan early this year.
“Every driver’s dream in Uganda is to win the Pearl.
We need the 140 points so to kick start our season,” Kikankane said. The Wandegeya- based driver has managed to finish the Pearl three times in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
“We tested the car last week, but we are still working on it but it will be ready in time for the event.”
The GVB will be making its second outing in Uganda after debut during Mbarara Rally in February. Kikankane called on army of fans to give him support. However, he still believes Manvir in his Skoda is favourite for the event. Vivo Energy are the main sponsor of the event to the tune of Sh110m.
