KAMPALA. Rally fans in Jinja will not catch the trio of Duncan ‘Kinkakane’ Mubiru, Ambrose ‘Omunyento’ Byona and Ponsiano ‘Mafu Mafu’ Lwakataka in action this weekend.
The three failed to beat the Saturday registration deadline for FMU Jinja Challenge Rally citing varying reasons for skipping the second National Rally Championship (NRC) calendar event.
Mubiru, who acquired a Subaru GVB at the start of the current campaign, disclosed that he had sent his car for service in Nairobi and the shocks to United Kingdom.

“It is unfortunate the car will not be ready in time. We don’t want to repeat the mistake we did in Mbarara when the car was not ready,” said Kikankane, who is yet to win the national title. “We seek our fans patience as we look to return better and stronger”.
Omunyeto, who skipped the opening event in Mbarara last month, was expected to make his debut in Evo X this weekend. But he will be away on a business trip and his fans must wait to catch their hero during the third round scheduled for April in Masaka. “Unfortunately there is business to be done and I admit that I will have a lot of catching up to do. I am positive the NRC will still be alive when I unleash the Kisodde then,” said Byona.

Lwakataka, a two-time national champion blew up his engine in the first section in Mbarara and is looking for sponsor to buy a new one. “I need a new engine and hopefully I will have acquired it for my home district event,” said Mafu Mafu.
