  • Manvir said afterwards, he enjoyed every bit of the event despite the dust over two days. “The dust slowed me down, am sure I could have gone even faster because the roads were good and played well in my plans,” said Manvir, who is set to win back- to- back Africa title.

Ugandan drivers once again had no answer to Manvir Baryan’s brilliance in a Skoda Fabia during the 20th edition of the V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, which ended in Kayunga on Saturday.

The Kenyan with his British navigator Drew Sturrock finished the 482.86km race in a time of 02:26:03, more than four minutes over Uganda’s best Ronald Ssebuguzi and Leon Ssenyange in a Mitsubishi Evo X.

To show his dominance, the reigning Africa champion won eight of the nine competitive sections of the event. Only Jas Mangat and Joseph Kamya in an Evo X, who finished third overall, beat him CS8-25.97km (Lwasa2) when he went off the road and lost six minutes.

Manvir said afterwards, he enjoyed every bit of the event despite the dust over two days. “The dust slowed me down, am sure I could have gone even faster because the roads were good and played well in my plans,” said Manvir, who is set to win back- to- back Africa title.
He became the third driver to win back-to-back Pearl Rallies.
