Maxime, Miller Enduro showdown in Mburo Park

KAMPALA.

The FIM Africa Central Africa Enduro Challenge takes place at Lake Mburo National Community Ranch today.

The focus will be on the battle of enduro supremacy between Maxime van Pee and Shaun Miller (BMW 450G), national champions in their respective countries last season.

Maxime is excited about the course at Lake Mburo and hosting such an event for the first time in Uganda.

“All of us will be considered to be on a neutral venue, as it is still new. But we are going to do our best on the challenging route,” Maxime told Sunday Monitor.

Maxime who had been down with malaria for the past one week, is determined to take on the Kenyans.

“It is not going to be easy over the 25km route but will do my best for the team.

“It is also good preparation for the FIM Africa MX championship, first leg to be held at the Uganda Motorsports Arena (UMA) Busiika in two weeks’ time.”

Joshua Mayanja, the clerk of the course, explained the 25km course has three features; forests, hill with big hardcore stones and another one with small stones.

“Endurance will be a key factor for the riders over the course. Top riders are expected to do around 50 minutes for a single lap and it will around three hours for the winner to emerge” he said. The event is sponsored by Hima Cement, Lato Milk, Ferro Mobile, City Ambulance, Red Bull, ICEA, Fire and Safety, World Wide Movers and Civcom.
