KAMPALA. Maxime van Pee, the Team Uganda captain is confident the country can wrestle the FIM Africa Central Africa MX Championship from Kenya.
A contingent of 22 riders leave this morning for the second leg of the two-country competition to be held at the 1.8km Jamhuri Race track this weekend. Uganda will go into the event having collected 1,291 points after winning the first leg held at Garuga in May - a lead of 588 points against their rivals.
“Although we are taking an understrength side, we remain confident of regaining the title we surrendered to Kenya last year,” Maxime who will unveil a 2017 KTM 450CC explained.

“We could have been more confident with the Kiggundu bros (Fathu, Talha and Habib), Omars and Blick families. But the team traveling with riders such as Fortune Sentamu and Ben Nsumba (MX85), Alon (MX50 Sr), Stav (MX65) and Aviv Orland ( MX85) and Miguel Katende in MX50Jr are all capable of winning the overall title and individual one,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Muramagi, the NCS general secretary handed over their contribution of Sh5m and the national flag to Maxime at Lugogo yesterday.
“This will cover part of your expense to transport bikes to Nairobi,” he said.
