KAMPALA. Omar Mayanja and Hussein Mukuye were the surprise winners of the Lato Milk Mbarara Rally last season.
This is after they took advantage of mechanical mishaps to Jas Mangat and Hassan Alwi to finish ahead of the crew of Ronald Ssebuguzi/Leon Ssenyange and Duncan Mubiru/ George Ssemakula.

Close to a year later, the pair is refusing to raise expectations as the event comes around on Friday week.
“We are just targeting a podium finish,” Mukuye told the Daily Monitor yesterday.

The experienced co-driver who has previously paired with Yasin Nasser and Shafik Ssemujju also revealed they are in final preparations ahead of the event that will open the National Rally Championship.

“The car (Evo X) is fine and we are also waiting for shock absorbers from France and tyres. God willing the target this season is to get four podium and five top five finishes this season,” added Mukuye who comes from a rally family that also includes Musa Nsubuga a co-driver.
