Mountain Dew celebrated their 10 years with Motocross by injecting a further Sh250m to cover the remaining events and other activities of the man and machine sport this year.
Timothy Luzinda, the brand manager of Mountain Dew explained that it’s not by accident that they have stood with motocross for all those years.
He said: “The investment we have made into motocross is symbolic of our commitment to developing the sport in the country.”
In addition, Luzinda said motocross is a perfect platform for the brand and thanked Speedway Motor Club (Smoc) and Uganda MX Club for their high level of transparency. He revealed that Sh175m will go directly into the sport
Veteran rider Arthur Blick Jr, highlighted what they have achieved under Mountain Dew sponsorship.
“We started with a few families and riders. Now we have close to 100 riders during each event. Uganda won the 2012 Africa title, and came second in 2016 and has won numerous regional titles including last year in Kenya,” the 10 times national MX1 champion said.
Omar Mayanja, the new president of Smoc, thanked Crown Beverages for their continued support of the motocross.
Other present were Brandon Ssemanda, the head of Marketing in the company, and Maxime van Pee, Team Uganda captain who said he will most likely miss the regional event on April 1 as he recovers from the operation on his knee.
Elsewhere, the Busiika track has been redesigned to bring it to international standard ahead of the East and Central Africa MX Championship with Kenya on Easter Sunday.
