Kampala. Four drivers Christakis Fitidis, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Kuku Ranjit, and Duncan Mubiru still harbor hopes of winning this year’s National Rally Championship (NRC) title.

The quartet will head to Hoima for the Umospoc Kabalega Rally 2017, penultimate event separated by 85 points. The event, scheduled for August 18-20, was launched yesterday at Lugogo with Justin Mungoma, who represented the event manager promising to orgasnise a better event than last year.
Then, the event ended in controversy and it took members of the senate to determine the winner. For the record, Godfrey Lubega and Mungoma in Subaru N12 were declared winners.

Dusman Okee, the FMU president, thanked the Bunyoro people for once again accepting to be hosts for this event. “Last year I met the entire Kabalega grandchildren. I thank them for the hospitality,” he said. “This year, the season is very competitive and you can see four to five drivers still have a chance of winning the title. I also appeal to fans to show the same good manners they exhibited during the Pearl early this month.”

The event, which has a total of 362km of which 172.78km is competitive, opens with a Spectator Stage (4.82km) at Hotel Kontika, two kilo mitres outside Hoima, on the way to Kampala. On Sunday, drivers will do five competitive sections.
