Ronald Ssebuguzi has started the new season in winning fashion just like he closed the previous term.

The giant driver powered his Mitsubishi Evo9 to victory in the final event of 2012 - the Champions Sprint held at Garuga on Boxing Day. On Sunday, he started from where he left off, beating Shaffik Ssemujju (Subaru N11) by over four minutes to win the FMU/CBS FM Premier Sprint in Lubiri.

“It was a perfect preparation for the upcoming Mbarara Rally,” said Ssebuguzi, a two-time national champion. “Last season, I was unsettled and the car was not in the best shape. My mechanics have rebuilt the car and I believe I am ready for the challenge this season.” He added: “The biggest challenge I am facing at the moment is lack of sponsorship. I appeal to companies to come to my aid. ”

Meanwhile, Air Uganda sponsored driver Jas Mangat in a Subaru N12B finished seventh in the KCB Kajiado Rally, the first event of the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) on Sunday.
