KAMPALA. Fans should brace themselves for excitement at Victoria Race Track, Garuga on Sunday during the second round of the 2017 National Motocross championship.
Close to 80 riders including Rwanda guest rider Olivier Fietzek will battle on the track come Sunday. If Sunday’s action is as good as the opening round in January at the same venue, then fans are in for a treat.
With the absence of the Orland siblings Aviv and Stav on MX85cc, the tussle is expected to be in MX2 and MX125cc where the rivalry between Aleistar Blick and Ali ‘Bobo’ Omar will again be rekindled and Olivier from Rwanda joins the fray determined to leave a mark at Garuga. “I have heard a lot about the two riders (Aleistar and ‘Bobo’) and have followed them and respect them for what they have achieved but I’m ready to take them on,” Olivier, who will ride a KTM 250 2016 model told the press during the launch of the event at Lugogo on Tuesday.
Fortune Ssentamu, who was nearly relegated to being a spectator by the dominant display of the Orland siblings, is expected to bounce back given the absence of the two - currently in California.
Meanwhile, Maxime van Pee is not in the best shape after injuring his ankle while playing soccer. He was due to resume racing yesterday to begin the preparations. “I am not in the best shape, but will as always do my best for my fans. I likewise expect Asaf Natan to come out strongly on his new bike Yamaha 450, 2017 model,” Maxime said.
The event will be used as practice for the upcoming East Africa event due next month.
