KAMPALA.
With Duncan ‘Kinkakane’ Mubiru missing, Ronald Ssebuguzi and Jonas Kansiime will not have a better chance of stretching their National Rally Championship (NRC) lead when the SMC challenge rally roars off today at Festino City.

Ssebuguzi leads the current standings after three rounds with 251 points after two second placed finishes and a triumph in the last NRC event in Masaka. With Mubiru a further 23 points back from Kansiime (208 points), the leading pair will be expected to increase their leads having scored points in each of the first three races this season thus far.

That hunt is expected to start at the 5.56km Special Super Stage today at Festino City before proceeding to areas around Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso and Luweero tomorrow.

The leading pair’s pursuit of more championship points is however likely to face a stern test after Jas Mangat, winner of the last two NRC titles, who beat the deadline registration. With three more races left after this weekend, the possibility of a third straight championship would not be too farfetched for Mangat who won four straight rallies en route to the title last year.
